Mayor Jon Costas has named Laurie Mullet to the city’s Advisory Human Relations Council. Costas established the AHRC in 2008 to advance and support community inclusion. “We’re so pleased to have Laurie’s invaluable insights on the Human Relations Council. Her work on behalf of seniors and veterans is inspiring to us all,” said Mayor Jon Costas. The AHRC serves in an advisory role, identifying needs or opportunities to enhance human relations, and providing a forum for resolving differences.
Mullet is CEO of Pines Village Retirement Communities, serving more than 350 seniors throughout Porter County with senior living and nutrition services. In addition to serving seniors for more than 40 years, Mullet is also passionate about supporting the needs of military veterans, serving on a local task force and investing many hours in advancing the causes of veterans locally and statewide. Mullet also serves as Chairman of the Indiana Commission on Aging, where she was appointed by the governor. She and husband Joe have been married for 41 years.
