ElderStyle is a public-private partnership between the Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation (VDPR) and Pines Village Retirement Communities (PVRC). The two organizations are working together to create a network of community choices to live well.

This additional program allows access to our newly renovated fitness room. NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainers, treadmills, stationary bikes, and a water rower are available in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Orientation and training sessions with our certified senior fitness trainer are available by appointment.

Simply put - we want Valparaiso to be a community where people live vibrantly as they grow older. Therefore, we are committed to finding ways to offer comprehensive support systems that address the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and vocational needs of older adults.

To create the ElderStyle community, PVRC and VPRD have established three initiatives as the focus of the partnership.

• PVRC will assume all responsibility for managing the programs at Village Park Enrichment Center.
• VPRD will assist in the landscaping and maintenance of the wetlands at Meridian Woods campuses.
• The two organizations will work together to assess services and establish an older adult referral network. In 2008, we will begin to establish standards to evaluate programs and services. Once those standards have been established, we can begin to assemble the network. Our goal is to launch the network in 2009. For additional information, call 465-1591.
