Community & Outreach

Pines Village residents are engaged with the community beyond our doors. There are abundant opportunities for residents to interact with the outside community and for the outside community to visit Pines Village. Consider these activities:

Beyond Our Doors

The Village Gallery at Pines Village

Art enriches our lives at Pines Village. Our own Village Gallery showcases original artwork from throughout the region and United States. Every six weeks, the gallery changes, inviting residents and the community to enjoy a fresh exhibit. Frequently, the artists themselves come to the gallery to introduce their work.

Pines Village is also home to three legacy collections, Hazel Hannell, Russell Nelson and Dr. Margaret Burroughs.  Tax deductable donations are gratefully accepted to preserve, protect and expand these permanent collections.

In addition to the gallery, residents also take part in art classes taught by professional artists. Not only do residents appreciate the creative activity, but many have discovered new talents in painting, drawing, sculpting, and more.

Campbell Street Café at Meridian Woods

Our own Campbell Street Café is a charming combination of neighborhood coffee shop/casual restaurant (open to the public!) and welcoming community center for adults 55 and better. Located at Meridian Woods, the Campbell Street Café is owned and operated by Pines Village.  All tips collected are distributed to charities that provide assistance to older adults. For a small annual fee, you may become a member at Campbell Street Café and enjoy a discount on food, a monthly newsletter, and opportunities to join outings and enrichment programs.

In addition to the restaurant, Campbell Street Café also offers a fitness center for members, plus personalized training.

ElderStyle Valparaiso

Pines Village partners with the Valparaiso Department of Parks & Recreation for the unique ElderStyle Valparaiso initiative, designed to develop Valparaiso as a community of choice for older residents. Together, we have created a network of resources citywide, offering discounts and opportunities for older residents to remain vibrant and engaged in the Valparaiso community.

The Community of Valparaiso

Valparaiso is a great place to call home.  An energetic city of more than 31,000 residents (and growing!), Valparaiso is an energetic destination for people of all ages. Within minutes of Pines Village properties, you’ll discover excellent shops and restaurants, 19 parks, and year-round programming. The majestic Indiana Dunes are just 10 minutes north. Pines Village transportation is available for group and individual outings.

Pines Village Wants Your CAPS

Pines Village Retirement Communities is asking for the community’s help as they transform trash into treasured park benches. We’re building indestructible-last-forever park benches from recyclable plastic caps that are donated to local organizations. Since kicking off this eco-friendly project, 2 tons of plastic caps have been transformed into eight benches. Pines Village residents invite the community to join their effort by dropping off clean plastic caps to our main office at 3303 Pines Village Circle or Campbell St. Café at 4245 Meridian Woods Drive. Any plastic cap that is clean and free of metal may be donated. Besides plastic bottle caps, this includes (for example):
