Pines Village Retirement Communities (PVRC) and the Valparaiso Parks and Recreation Department (VPRD) have formed a partnership to provide older adult services for the residents of the greater Valparaiso community.
Simply put - we want Valparaiso to be a community where people live vibrantly as they grow older. Therefore, we are committed to finding ways to offer comprehensive support systems that address the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and vocational needs of older adults.
The two organizations will work together to make Valparaiso an "ElderStyle" community. Our mission is to offer older adults of Valparaiso a network of community choices to live well.
To create the "ElderStyle" community, PVRC and VPRD have established three initiatives as the focus of the partnership.
- PVRC will assume all responsibility for managing the Village Park Enrichment Center at Banta.
- VPRD will create public parks on the Pines Village and Meridian Woods campuses.
- The two organizations will work together to assess services and establish an older adult referral network. In 2007, we will establish standards to evaluate programs and services. Once those standards have been established, we can begin to assemble the network. Our goal is to launch the network in 2008. For additional information, call 465-1591.
